IFLA in Brisbane in 2010

The Australian Library and Information Association and the city of Brisbane have been selected to host the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) World Library and Information Congress in 2010.

The State Library of Queensland will be hosting the 2007 SLQ Library2.0 Unconference. Get together with other information professionals in a facilitated environment to informally learn, discuss and brainstorm anything and everything Library2.0.

Ramsay Reid Scholarships 2006

The Ramsay Reid Scholarships, awarded on an annual basis by the Library Board of Victoria, have been presented for 2006.

Anna Boland from Hume Global Learning Centre Library Service will be going to the western states of the USA to study public library literacy programs. I (Michelle) won the other scholarship (I'm from Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation). I will be going to the east coast of the USA to study innovative ways that select libraries are serving their communities through the internet and also to attend and present at the Computers in Libraries 2007 conference in Arlington, Virginia.

L2 Unconference

Thomastown Library will be the host of the first L2 Unconference in Australia. Based on the Boot Camps in the US, the unconference "focuses on who is going to be at the event and what they're interested in. No powerpoint presentations, no eminent (or not so eminent) papers, just conversations, active learning, discussion, fun! (they) provide the space, enough blank space to write on so that you can self organise, and a general theme for the day."
