Google Book Search comes to Australia

According to Australian Bookseller and Publisher, Google Book Search has been expanded to include Australia. A Sydney-based business development manager has been appointed according to the Australian Financial Review, the UNSW Press has signed on and scanning has commenced. A website has been established for the local arm of the project at: Google Book Search Beta.

Australia's Newspaper Heritage

The Council of Australian State Libraries (CASL) has endorsed a 5 year plan to save Australia's most at risk newspapers. With the help of the Australian public, CASL plans to find, acquire and preserve significant missing newspaper titles and issues.
